after I have watched a short movie on simpletruth.com about appreciation, I felt guilty. Its because I am the type of person who is shy on saying thanks or appreciating people specially on my family. Its kind of “not me” I feel. I am also irritated of the side comments.(hehe) But come to think of it, it is just natural to say thank you to people who maid things in favor of you. Appreciating them would make them glad and feel important. You could get closer to them by doing this.
The movie I watch was of a international speaker who was in a seminar with some people, she said, Think of a person you are longing to appreciate, Think of the things they have done for you that made you not ever forget them. At the end of the event, a man was motivated to appreciate that person he said to the speaker. He decided to track down her teacher in literature. When he finally tracked her down, he sent her a letter of appreciation. It wasn’t long when she replied. On the letter she said ” I have never received ANY letter from any of my students before, I just live in a single room and all my family and friends are all gone. I am just alone now. Thanks for making me feel better, I will treasure this and reread this always until I die.
Its kinda sad that we don’t really know how other people feel. Even those ones who are silent and those who are loudly enough and cheerful. We will never know how they really feel. Sometimes they just masked themselves with happiness so that we would not notice their burdens.
Appreciation come from various forms. It could be a simple “thank you” or a simple gift. Its not the tangible things that makes you fell appreciated, Its the moment you stood up or the words you wrote that makes them feel they are recognized.
Its really hard to do but its a necessity I should say. Find time to thank the people who touched your life and say the things you want to say before it too late…
